Pottery Studio

Discover the art of handbuilt pottery at the HUB Station Pottery Studio in Hudson, NC. Whether you’re trying clay for the very first time or looking to continue developing your ceramic skills, our studio offers a welcoming and creative environment for artists of all experience levels.

Our fully equipped pottery studio features professional tools and equipment including slab rollers, handbuilding tools, glazes, dedicated workspaces, and kiln access. Throughout the year, we offer a variety of pottery opportunities including beginner and intermediate handbuilding classes, themed workshops, specialty projects, and seasonal classes.

Pottery Classes

Beginning Pottery

Perfect for beginners and those wanting to explore clay for the first time. This 4-week course introduces students to basic handbuilding and slab work techniques while exploring glazing and surface decoration. Students create multiple functional and decorative pottery pieces throughout the class.

Intermediate Handbuilding & Slab Work

Designed for returning students and those with prior pottery experience, this class focuses on refining techniques and expanding creative possibilities through advanced handbuilding, slab construction, surface decoration, and glazing methods.

Open Studio Access

Students who have successfully completed both Beginning and Intermediate Pottery classes may qualify for Open Studio access.

Open Studio allows approved potters to work independently in the studio while utilizing HUB Station tools, equipment, glazes, workspace, and kiln access. This flexible environment gives artists the opportunity to continue developing their skills, work on personal projects, and be part of a supportive pottery community.

Workshops & Special Events

In addition to ongoing classes, the HUB Station Pottery Studio regularly hosts themed pottery workshops, seasonal projects, and specialty classes throughout the year. These workshops are designed to encourage creativity, introduce new techniques, and provide fun opportunities for all skill levels.

Meet the Instructor

Pottery classes are taught by Rebecca of Black Pug Pottery. A retired educator, Rebecca bring years of artistic experience, creativity, and encouragement to the studio. Her pottery journey began creating custom pet memorials and handcrafted ceramic pieces before expanding into functional pottery, dishware, and teaching. Her welcoming teaching style helps students feel comfortable experimenting with clay while building confidence in their creative abilities.

Location: HUB Station Activity Center – Pottery Studio
Class Times: Most classes meet Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Open Studio Access: Monday – Saturday | 8:00 am – 8:30 pm (approved students only)
