JUNIOR APPALACHIAN MUSICIANS (JAM)
Learn, Play & Keep Appalachian Music Alive
Come JAM with us! Caldwell JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians) is an Caldwell Arts Council program for students ages 8–18 that teaches students to sing and play by ear in the old-time Appalachian tradition. Students can explore guitar, fiddle, mandolin, and banjo while developing their musical skills and connecting with the rich musical heritage of our region.
JAM classes are held weekly as after-school programs, and students do not have to attend public school to participate. Whether your student is picking up an instrument for the first time or is ready to take their playing to the next level, there are classes available for a variety of experience levels.
JAM Classes at The HUB Station
Wednesdays
🎵 3:30 PM – Beginner Guitar, Beginner Fiddle & Banjo
🎵 4:30 PM – Intermediate Guitar & Upright Bass
Thursdays
🎵 3:30 PM – Beginner Mandolin & Intermediate Fiddle
🎵 4:30 PM – Intermediate Mandolin & Intermediate Fiddle
🎵 5:30 PM – Advanced/Performance Class
Classes are not held on early release days, school holidays, or when school is closed due to inclement weather.
Program Details
Dates: September 30, 2026 – May 12, 2027
📍 Location: HUB Station Arts Center – Second Floor
💲 Tuition: $150 per year (approximately $5 per class)
🎸 Instrument Rental: $20 for the school year through the Caldwell Arts Council
A 25% tuition discount is available for siblings and students taking multiple classes. A limited number of partial and full scholarships are also available on a case-by-case basis.
