Fluttering Colors Art Contest: Celebrating Nature’s Beauty

Join us in celebrating the vibrant hues and delicate grace of butterflies at the annual Fluttering Colors Art Contest, inspired by the spirit of the NC Butterfly Festival. Whether you’re a budding artist or a seasoned creator, this contest invites participants of all ages to express their vision of these enchanting creatures and the natural world they inhabit.

Submission Guidelines:
* Artwork should portray a butterfly or a nature scene inspired by the NC Butterfly Festival.
* Entries must be on heavy, unlined white paper, canvas, or poster board, not exceeding 11×17 inches in size and must be two-dimensional and hangable (matted/framed, etc.).
* Preferred drawing materials include watercolors, oils, pen & ink, pastels, crayons, colored pencils, or markers.
* No writing should be on the front of the artwork, and photographs are not accepted.
* Each entry must be labeled on the back with the artist’s name, address, phone number, and age (if under 18). Please provide descriptive details to assist the gallery in identifying the piece (colors, objects depicted, etc.).

Categories and Prizes:
* Ages 5-8, 9-13, 14-18, and adults age 19 and over will have separate categories for judging.
* First place prizes of $100 will be awarded in all three children’s categories, and the adult first place winner will receive $300.
* The Grand Prize-winning entry across children’s categories may become the artwork for future festivals, and the winning adult entry will be considered for the official poster at the next festival.
* Proceeds from any product sales displaying the winning art will benefit HCDA and/or The Red Awning Gallery.

Submission Details:
* An entry fee of $5.00 is required and can be paid at the Red Awning Gallery when dropping off artwork.
* Entries will be accepted at The Red Awning Gallery located in the HUB Station from Wednesday to Friday, April 24th to 26th, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, April 27th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Announcement and Reception:

Winners will be announced at a reception held at the HUB Station on May 3rd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
