At the The HUB Station Arts Center, creativity is meant to be shared, explored, and enjoyed by everyone—no experience required. That philosophy is exactly what inspired C.A.F.E. – Community Art for Everyone, a new monthly adult art workshop that launched in Fall 2025 and has quickly become a favorite for creative locals.
Held on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 6:00–7:00 PM in the Palette Studio, C.A.F.E. invites adults to step away from their routines and spend an hour reconnecting with creativity. Even better, the class costs just $5 per session, making it one of the most accessible art programs in our community.

What makes C.A.F.E. especially fun is the element of surprise. Participants never know what the project or medium will be until they arrive. One month you might be experimenting with alcohol inks, and the next you might be creating a collage, trying hand embroidery, or designing artist trading cards.
The goal isn’t mastery or perfection—it’s exploration. C.A.F.E. encourages adults to let go of expectations and simply enjoy the process of making something. It’s about creativity, curiosity, and giving yourself permission to play.
Creativity Like You Remember from Childhood
Addie Faber, Director of the HUB Station, often compares the experience to elementary school art class. When you were a kid, art class wasn’t about technique or critique—it was about discovery. You showed up, the materials were on the table, and you were free to create whatever felt right. C.A.F.E. brings that feeling back.
Participants are encouraged to experiment, make mistakes, and enjoy the creative process without worrying about perfect form or artistic rules. It’s a refreshing reminder that art can simply be fun, relaxing, and inspiring.
Meet the Creators Behind C.A.F.E.
The program was created and is taught by Darlene Berry and Esther Wakefield, longtime friends and creative partners who share a deep love for process-focused art. Their creative journey began decades ago in the kitchen as “Wakeberry Preserves.” From there, their artistic experiments expanded into the driveway with “Berryfield” papermaking. Over the years, their collaboration has grown into a rich exploration of creativity and wellness through the arts. Today, Darlene and Esther are active members of a vibrant creative community and bring experience working with a wide range of mediums, including:
- Fiber and textiles
- Ink and paint
- Paper arts
- Clay
- Mixed media and experimental materials
Their philosophy centers on process-focused art experiences, where the act of creating is just as important as the final piece. They are thrilled to bring these experiences to the HUB Station through C.A.F.E. – Community Art For Everyone.

Looking Ahead
The excitement around C.A.F.E. has been incredible, and we are thrilled to continue the program into 2026 and 2027. As the program grows, we look forward to exploring new ways to expand these creative experiences and bring even more opportunities for the community to engage with art. At its heart, C.A.F.E. is exactly what the name suggests: a welcoming space where creativity is shared and everyone belongs.
Whether you consider yourself an artist or haven’t picked up a paintbrush in decades, C.A.F.E. is designed for you.
Come for the creativity.
Stay for the community.
Leave with something uniquely yours.
We look forward to seeing you the fourth Tuesday of the month in the Palette Studio at the HUB Station. And remember—you never know what we’ll be making next.
